Steinbeis Transfer Award / Löhn Award 2015

In 2015, the LUVIS products were awarded the Transfer Prize of the Steinbeis Foundation (“Löhn Prize”). It was awarded to the project team of the Steinbeis Transfer Center eyetrial at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Tübingen and VISUS GmbH (Stuttgart/Herrenberg) for the joint development and market launch of the “LUVIS” devices.

On Sept. 25, 2015, some 600 invited guests attended the Steinbeis Evening at Stuttgart’s Liederhalle Culture and Congress Center to watch the award ceremony for the prize, which was established in 2004. The Steinbeis Foundation Transfer Award recognizes exceptionally successful competitive knowledge and technology transfer projects and is awarded annually to Steinbeis companies and their project partners. Project success is measured by the two central criteria of quality of the transfer process and recognizable transfer potential.

With the development of the LUVIS devices, the project team was able to create the world’s first standards in contrast vision test illumination. There is no comparable product to date. LUVIS can be used to create a level playing field in multicenter clinical trials, as well as in the driver’s license vision test for the 2011 Driving Permit Ordinance.

The Löhn Award was established to honor the achievement of Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Johann Löhn, former Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and current Honorary Trustee. Previous award winners include companies such as Daimler, dm, Siemens and Carl Zeiss.
